The Finals Concert will be held on Saturday 7th March 2009 at The Pavilion Theatre, Rhyl.

The Competition has now been running for eight years and we have already booked the venues for the ninth year. It has continued go grow in numbers and status and hopefully has given pleasure and reward to all the hundreds of young people that have so far taken part.

Our plans for the future include the splitting of the Duet Category into ages and the possibility of holding heats in various parts of North Wales to assist in the travelling that some entrants have to do to reach the Heats and Finals. We would also like to organise a further stage whereby the Winners in each Category would compete against a like competition from South Wales. All of these ideas are for discussion and any other ideas from yourselves would be most welcome. We do continue to want to make the whole Competition an event that the Young People of North Wales value.

To this end, we are asking everyone who has had anything to do with the competition, whether as a competitor or a parent or just a member of the public, to support us in our efforts. They all require funds and we are finding that support from the Arts Council which has been so vital in the past has been reduced due to the forthcoming Olympic Games in 2012.

One way to do this is to hold this raffle. Raffle books are available from Jackie Bird on 01352 757976 and we hope that you will make a special effort to sell the tickets to all your family, friends or business colleagues. If everyone manages to achieve this it will definitely enable us to seriously consider the projects that we have in mind and also ensure the smooth running of the Competition in the following years.

The Winners of the 2008 Competition will make a recording of their winning songs on Wednesday 2 nd April at The Livewire Studio at Howell’s School, Denbigh.

A Foyer Concert will be at the Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 16 th August for all Finalists of the 2008 Competition. The Concert will be at 6.15 p.m. and then the Finalist will attend CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG in the main auditorium. Some Parents and Friends will also attend.

‘A HANDFUL OF SONGS’ – a Music Hall with songs from the fifties performed by NEW START THEATRE COMPANY from Wrexham in support of MUSICAL THEATRE YOUNG SINGERS. This will be held at the MEMORIAL HALL, WREXHAM on SATURDAY, 17 TH MAY AT 7.30 p.m.
